Fungal InfectionsIn stockMore InformationWhat is Canesten Athletes Foot Cream?
Canesten Dual Action 1% w/w Cream is used to treat athlete’s foot or jock itch.
The active substance in Canesten Dual Action Cream is clotrimazole. Clotrimazole belongs to a group of medicines called imidazoles and is an antifungal agent which fights the cause of fungal skin infections.
What are fungal infections?
Fungal infections are very common and affect many people. Some of the most common fungal skin infections include athlete’s foot (Tinea pedis) and jock itch (Tinea cruris). They are caused by a contagious fungus which thrives in warm, moist environments. The fungus that causes athlete’s foot usually lives harmlessly on our skin and in our environment. The natural balance that normally keeps it under control can be upset by factors such as damp moist conditions. This could happen, for example, through regularly wearing training shoes that keep the feet hot and sweaty. Since this fungus is contagious, it can also often be picked up in changing rooms.
Tell-tale signs of both athlete’s foot and jock itch are that the skin becomes itchy, red and inflamed. Sporty people or those who work in a warm, damp environment, tend to be more likely to catch these conditions.
How to use Canesten Athletes Foot Cream
- Before use, pierce the tube seal by inverting the cap over the end of the tube and press.
- If the feet are infected, they should be washed and dried thoroughly, especially between the toes, before applying the cream.
- Canesten Dual Action Cream should be applied thinly and evenly to the affected areas two or three times daily and rubbed in gently.
- A strip of cream (1 /2 cm long) is enough to treat an area of about the size of the hand.
- The treatment should be continued for at least one month to prevent re-infection.
The symptoms of skin infection, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment although signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days, consult your doctor.
You can help the treatment to work if you follow these simple self-help tips:
- Although the infected area will itch, try not to scratch. Scratching will damage the surface of the skin and cause the infection to spread further.
- Keep the affected skin areas clean.
- Pay particular attention to drying the skin, but avoid excessive rubbing.

How to use Lamisil AT 1% Cream
Adults: For Athlete’s Foot and dhobie itch, apply the cream once a day, for one week.

- Unscrew the cap then gently squeeze out a small amount of the cream onto your finger.
- Apply just enough cream to form a thin layer on the affected skin and surrounding areas.
- Rub in gently. When used between the toes, buttocks or on the groin, the treated area may be covered with a light, fresh gauze strip, especially at night.
- Replace the cap on the tube and wash your hands
Even though you will not be using Lamisil AT 1% Cream during the second week, full skin healing after the infection has cleared will continue for up to 4 weeks. - Nails grow slowly so it may take 2 or 3 months before you start to see an improvement.
After every 3 months of treatment:
- If the infection has improved, continue the treatment.
- If the infection is the same or worse talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Safe use of Curanail
- If you get the medicine in your eyes or ears wash it out with water and talk to your doctor or pharmacist or go to the nearest hospital straight away.
- Do not let the medicine come into contact with your mouth or nostrils (or other mucous membranes).
- Do not inhale the medicine.
- Do not let anyone else use the files from your kit -this will stop the spread of infection.
- If you need to use chemicals such as paint thinners or white spirit when you have applied the medicine to your fingernails, wear rubber or other waterproof (impermeable) gloves. This will protect the medicine on your nails.
Step 1: Prepare the nail
Using a new file, gently file down the infected areas of the nail, including the nail surface. Protect any healthy nails while you are doing this so that you don't spread the infection.
CAUTION: Do not use the same nail file for infected nails and healthy nails, as this could spread the infection as well. To prevent the spread of infection take care that no one else uses the files from your kit.
Step 2: Clean the nail
Use one of the swabs provided to clean the nail surface. Do not throw the swab away as you will need it later to clean the applicator.
Step 3: Treat the nail
Dip one of the re-usable applicators into the bottle of nail lacquer. The lacquer must not be wiped off on the edge of the bottle before it is applied. Apply the nail lacquer evenly over the entire surface of the nail. Let the treated nail(s) dry for approximately 3 minutes.

Daktarin Intensiv (Ketoconazole) Cream - 15g
Foot CareIn stockMore InformationWhat is Daktarin Intensiv Cream?
Daktarin Intensiv Cream is a medicine which is used to treat skin infections which may appear on the feet (Athlete’s Foot) or in the groin area (Dhobie Itch/tinea cruris). The cream rapidly relieves the itching which these fungal infections cause. It also provides long lasting protection from Athlete’s Foot, as it will continue to work even after you have stopped using it.
The cream contains the active substance, ketoconazole, which works by destroying the fungi that cause the infection.
If you have Athlete’s Foot, the skin between your toes will be red and itchy. Your skin may flake and crack and often the infection causes an unpleasant ‘cheesy’ smell. It is encouraged by moist, warm conditions and can be recognised by redness, irritation and itchiness between the toes.
Tinea cruris or Dhobie Itch is a fungal infection that occurs in the groin area and causes intense itching and inflammation (redness and soreness). In men, the skin of the scrotum is often affected.
How do you catch Athlete’s Foot?
It’s extremely infectious so anyone can pick it up, especially people sharing communal changing rooms and showers.
Once the fungal spores have been transferred onto the feet, they thrive in the warm, moist areas between the toes. The skin soon becomes inflamed and itchy with flaking or cracking occurring.
The infected flakes of skin are then shed onto the floor or into the socks and shoes by walking or friction.
Someone else will be easily infected if they step on these flakes, or if they share towels or footwear with someone who has already got Athlete’s Foot.
What is more, even if you’ve already got rid of your Athlete’s Foot, it’s very easy to re-infect yourself. The spores can live on or in your shoes or socks and if you don’t change them regularly, or treat them with antifungal powders or spray powders, the Athlete’s Foot soon returns.
How to prevent re-infection
If you want to avoid the vicious circle of re-infection, here are a few helpful hints.
- Spray inside your shoes and socks with fungicidal powder before putting them on.
- Don’t wear the same pair of shoes every day. This helps reduce the build-up of sweat which provides the moisture on which the fungus thrives.
- Avoid synthetic footwear. Choose cotton socks and leather shoes which allow your feet to breathe.
- Avoid sharing towels or footwear.
- Avoid walking barefoot in changing rooms.
- Dry thoroughly between your toes and keep toenails short as this reduces the number of places fungi can grow.
How to use Daktarin Intensiv Cream
- Each tube of cream is sealed – unscrew the cap and use the cap to pierce the seal.
- For topical use only, which means it is applied directly to the affected area of skin.
How to apply Daktarin Intensiv Cream
- Wash the infected area and dry it well (especially between the toes). As many skin conditions are contagious, you should keep a towel and flannel for your own use and not share it so that you do not infect anyone else.
- Apply the cream thinly onto the infected area and surrounding skin.
- Wash your hands carefully after applying the cream to avoid spreading the infection to other parts of the body or to other people. Similarly, clothing which comes into contact with the infected areas, such as socks, should be washed and changed frequently.
For skin infections of the trunk, groin, feet and hands, apply Daktarin Intensiv Cream to the affected and immediate surrounding area once or twice a day.
For Athletes Foot (infections between the toes)
Adults: Rub the cream gently between the toes and surrounding area once or twice a day (morning and night) for 4 to 6 weeks. Treatment may be necessary for up to 6 weeks.
- Continue to apply the cream to the affected areas for a few days after signs of infection have cleared to prevent them coming back.
- If symptoms have not improved within 4 weeks talk to your doctor.
For Dhobie Itch (Jock Itch)
Adults: Rub the cream into the affected and surrounding area once or twice daily.
- Continue treatment for a few days after signs of infection have cleared. Treatment may be necessary for up to 4 weeks. You may feel relief from symptoms quickly but it is important that you continue to use the cream as described to prevent them from coming back.
- If symptoms have not improved within 4 weeks talk to your doctor.

Bazuka Sub-Zero Freeze Verruca & Wart Removal Treatment – 50ml
Foot CareIn stockMore InformationWhat is Bazuka Sub-Zero Freeze Verruca & Wart Removal Treatment
Bazuka Sub-Zero removes warts and verrucas. Bazuka Sub-Zero is a freezing wart and verruca removal device based on the cryotherapy method used by doctors.
Bazuka Sub-Zero starts working from the first application and works by freezing warts and verrucas to the core. Based on the cryotherapy method used by doctors, it's fast to use, and effective.
- A home use ‘freeze’ treatment for verrucas and warts, based on cryotherapy used by doctors and healthcare professionals.
- Freezes the verruca or wart to the core from the first treatment - for a fast to use, and effective treatment.
How does Bazuka Sub-Zero Freeze Verruca & Wart Removal Treatment work
Bazuka Sub-Zero is based on cryotherapy - a recognised 'freezing' method used by doctors and healthcare professionals. It can freeze the wart or verruca to the core in just one treatment and in most cases, after 10 days, the treated wart or verruca will fall off, revealing new skin that has formed beneath.
Bazuka Sub-Zero may be preferable for more stubborn warts and verrucas, and when a really rapid treatment is desirable. It's suitable for adults and the elderly, and for children down to the age of four. Because the sudden freezing process can be painful, Bazuka Sub-Zero is not recommended for children younger than four.
Unlike other freezing products, Bazuka Sub-Zero uses Verrukill technology, a patented double protection security system to help make sure it can be used safely. Thanks to experts at Bazuka, the freezing agent can only be discharged using the special safety cap, and users can see when the applicator is charged with the freezing agent, enabling them to localise the treatment accurately onto the wart or verruca. Some alternative freezing products do not contain the freezing agent very well and so are more prone to harmful side effects.
How to use Bazuka Sub-Zero Freeze Verruca & Wart Removal Treatment
- Assemble device
- Use safety cap to charge foam applicator with the freezing agent
- Gently apply freezer to wart or verruca - only for a matter of seconds
This treatment can be painful, it is not suitable for everybody. if used on children, it must be operated by an adult
Do not use:
- On children under 4
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding
- If you are diabetic
- Anywhere on or near your face, armpits, breasts, bottom or genital (sex) area
- On birthmarks, moles, warts with hair growing from them, or any other spots
- On skin areas that are sensitive, damaged, cut, grazed, diseased or itchy
- At the same time as any other wart or verruca treatment
What does Bazuka Sub-Zero Freeze Verruca & Wart Removal Treatment contain
A pressurised aerosol can containing the freezing agent which is a liquid mixture of Dimethyl ether, Propane and Isobutane; 12 disposable foam applicators (sufficient for 12 freeze applications); a special safety cap/ actuator; an instruction leaflet.

Lamisil AT 1% Gel - 15g
Foot CareIn stockMore InformationWhat is Lamisil AT 1% Gel?
Lamisil AT 1% Gel contains the active ingredient terbinafine which is an antifungal used to treat skin problems caused by fungi in:
- Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) – athlete’s foot appears only on the feet (usually both, but not always), where it often appears in-between the toes. It can also appear on the instep, soles, or other areas of the feet. The most common type of athlete’s foot causes cracking or scaling of the skin, but you may also have mild swelling, blisters, or weeping ulcers. Lamisil AT 1% Gel is recommended for athlete’s foot when it occurs between the toes.
- Dhobie itch/jock itch (tinea cruris) – Dhobie itch appears in the groin and inner thigh area, usually on both sides but often with one side more than the other, where it can spread further between the legs to the buttocks, or up towards the stomach. Dhobie itch looks like a clearly bordered rash, which may have blisters.
- Ringworm (tinea corporis) – Ringworm usually appears as circular, sharp-edged areas of red rash, with dry, scaly or crusty patches towards the edges. Lamisil AT 1% Gel is suitable for ringworm occurring on the trunk of the body, legs, arm, neck or head, but not face.
How to use Lamisil AT 1% Gel
Adults: Lamisil AT 1% Gel is applied once a day, for one week only, for all fungal infections.
- Cleanse and dry the affected areas thoroughly and wash your hands. Treatment can be helped by keeping the affected areas clean by regular washing and careful drying with your own clean towels and clothes, and not rubbing or scratching the skin.
- Unscrew the cap – If using the medicine for the first time, use the point in the cap to pierce the top of the tube then gently squeeze out the gel.
- Rub the gel in lightly to the affected skin and surrounding areas (avoid application to where alcohol could cause stinging or irritation). When used between the toes, buttocks or on the groin, the treated area may be covered with a light, fresh gauze strip, especially at night.
- Replace the cap on the tube and wash your hands.
Even though you will not be using Lamisil AT 1% Gel during the second week, full skin healing after the infection has cleared will continue for up to 4 weeks. If you have not noticed any signs of improvement within 2 weeks of first starting treatment, please seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.

Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel with Emery Board, 6g
Foot CareIn stockMore InformationWhat is Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel?
Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel is a treatment for warts and verrucas.
Warts and verrucas are small excessive growths of skin caused by a type of virus. Warts often occur on the fingers or the back of the hands. You can recognise the common wart by the rough ‘cauliflower-like’ appearance of the surface. Verrucas occur only on the sole of the foot. They can be painful and often look like a small white ring of skin with black dots in the centre. The virus is very infectious. This means that warts and verrucas can grow and spread, mainly if left untreated. The virus can also be transferred to other parts of the body or from one person to another (see Section 6 for guidance on how this can be avoided).
Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel is suitable for use by adults, the elderly and children aged over 2 years. An adult should treat children under 12 years, and treatment of infants under 2 years is not recommended.
The active ingredient in this product is salicylic acid.
The active ingredient works by:
- softening the hard skin growth, making it easier to remove with a pumice stone or emery board;
- helping to kill the virus that causes warts and verrucas.
How to use Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel
Before you use this tube of gel for the first time, open it as follows:
- Find a suitable surface, in case of accidental spillage.
- Hold the tube upright, with the cap uppermost and the base resting on a suitable surface.
- Unscrew and remove the combined white and red nozzle/cap assembly from the tube.
- Remove the red collar and dispose of it safely.
- Keep the tube upright for 30 seconds.
- Then, without squeezing or over-gripping the tube, and with it still held upright and away from your face:
- replace the white and red nozzle/cap assembly onto the screw thread of the tube (take care to avoid ‘cross-threading’)
- tighten the nozzle/cap assembly firmly to pierce the top of the tube;
- briefly loosen the red cap (to release any slight pressure in the tube) and then retighten.
- Please note that once in place, a small gap will remain between the base of the nozzle/cap and the top of the tube.
To use the gel (adults, children and the elderly):
Follow these steps once every day, usually in the evening. Carry on using the gel in this way until the wart or verruca disappears:
- Soak the affected area in warm water for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Dry the area thoroughly, using your own towel if you have a wart or verruca (this will help stop the infection spreading to other people). This towel should be used for the affected area only.
- Taking care to avoid squeezing the tube, remove the protective red cap, leaving the white nozzle attached to the tube.
- Carefully apply a thin coating (one or two drops) of the gel to the top of the wart or verruca only:
- The next evening, carefully peel or pick off the white patch of dried gel from the wart or verruca:
- Once every week, before applying the fresh gel, gently rub the wart or verruca with the emery board provided or a pumice stone. Do not let anyone else use the emery board or pumice stone as the infection may spread to them.
- The length of treatment will vary depending on the size and resistance of the wart or verruca:
- At the end of treatment, if the white patch is difficult to remove, you can leave it because it will eventually fall off by itself.
What does Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel contain?
The active ingredient is salicylic acid 26.0% w/w.
The other ingredients are camphor, povidone, pyroxylin, ethanol, acetone and isopropyl alcohol.

Canesten Thrush External Cream relieves irritation of the vulva (vulvitis) which is caused by vaginal thrush (candidiasis).
Although this cream provides relief from the external irritation caused by vaginal thrush, it cannot treat any internal (vaginal) cause of the infection. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend a treatment for this.
Only use this product if you have been previously diagnosed by your doctor as having vaginal thrush.
Some women suffer from recurrent attacks of thrush. To reduce the frequency of these attacks, the sexual partner’s penis can be treated with this cream to prevent re-infection, even if they have no symptoms of thrush.
The active substance in Canesten Thrush External Cream is clotrimazole. Clotrimazole belongs to a group of medicines called azoles and is an antifungal agent which fights the cause of infections such as vaginal thrush.
Information about vaginal thrush
Vaginal thrush (candidiasis) is a common infection that most women suffer from at some time in their lives and is not caused by lack of personal hygiene.
Thrush is caused by a yeast (fungus) called Candida which lives harmlessly in the vagina and other parts of the body, without you even noticing it. However, the natural balance that keeps Candida under control can be upset by many factors such as hormonal changes (menstruation, contraceptive pill, pregnancy, menopause), poor health, antibiotics, perfumed soaps, bath additives and tight clothing.
If the natural pH balance is altered, the level of yeast increases and can develop into a thrush infection-causing any of the following symptoms: persistent burning and/or itching around the vagina and vulva, redness, swelling and soreness of the tissues of the vagina and vulva and a whitish, odourless discharge from the vagina. Not everybody who has thrush has all these symptoms; you may have only one of them.
How to avoid future recurrences of thrush
✓ Wear cotton knickers and loose clothing.
✓ Wash daily.
✓ After going to the toilet, wipe yourself from the front to back as a thrush infection may be transferred from the bowel.
✓ Change your sanitary protection regularly.
✗ Try to avoid wearing tights, nylon knickers and close-fitting jeans.
✗ Try to avoid washing with perfumed soaps or using vaginal deodorants.
✗ Do not wash or rub yourself hard with sponges or flannels and avoid hot baths with strong perfumed oils
If you are still worried or have any questions about the symptoms or the treatment of thrush, do not hesitate to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Treatment should be continued until symptoms of the infections disappear. Consult your doctor if the symptoms of your infection do not improve within seven days of finishing treatment for the internal infection.
Treating your sexual partner:
- If your sexual partner is treated with this cream, the cream should be applied to the end of the penis 2 or 3 times a day for up to two weeks.

- Helps prevent the recurrence of vaginal infections.
- Restores the natural environment in the vagina
- Re-establishes the vaginal microflora creating a protective barrier
A physiological vaginal environment is maintained by the natural balance of microorganisms known as vaginal Aora. Lactobacilli make up the majority of vaginal flora, therefore providing a natural defence against vaginal infections such as thrush.
One of the ways lactobacilli do this is by creating a protective barrier over the vaginal walls, helping prevent the growth of harmful microorganisms that can cause vaginal infections.
Using Canesflor can help prevent the recurrence of vaginal infections such as thrush by restoring and maintaining the optimal level of lactobacilli in the vagina and restoring the physiological pH, hence keeping physiological balance.
Canesflor can also be used as soon as you finish (i.e. next day) the appropriate medication for your vaginal infection to help prevent a recurrence.

Canesten Athletes Foot Cream - 30g - Pack of 2
Fungal InfectionsIn stockMore InformationWhat is Canesten Athletes Foot Cream?
- Do not share towels, bath mats, etc. with other people as you could spread the infection to them.
- Always wash your hands after treating the infection to prevent it from spreading.
If you have athlete’s foot:
- Remember to dry the skin between the toes thoroughly.
- Wash your socks, stockings and tights thoroughly in hot water to remove any shed skin or fungal spores.
- Change your footwear daily if possible

What are fungal infections?
Fungal infections are prevalent and affect many people. Some common fungal skin infections include athlete’s foot, nappy rash, sweat rash and ringworm.
There are two main types of fungal infection:
- The tinea group is also known as dermatophytes.
- The candida group, also known as yeasts.
The tinea group includes athlete’s foot and ringworm, easily spread by contact. The fungus that causes athlete’s foot usually lives harmlessly on our skin and environment. Damp, moist conditions can upset the natural balance that generally controls it. This could happen, for example, through regularly wearing training shoes that keep the feet hot and sweaty. Since this fungus is contagious, it can often be picked up in changing rooms. Ringworm is usually passed on from animals to children. Ringworm is not a worm; its name comes from the circular worm-like shape that it forms on the skin. The main symptom for both is an itchy, scaly and irritating rash.
The candida group can be responsible for conditions such as sweat rash and thrush. Sweat rash can appear anywhere on the body but is more likely to occur where folds of skin rub against each other, such as under the breasts, under arms, around the groin and on the back. Candida is a yeast-like fungus that usually lives harmlessly on our skin. However, the natural balance that generally controls it can be upset by factors such as sweating, tight or synthetic clothing and cosmetic preparations such as bath additives. When levels of the yeast increase, the skin can develop the following symptoms: persistent burning and itching, soreness and a variety of patches or blemishes, and a softened and soggy appearance.
The candida group can also be responsible for nappy rash. Most babies develop nappy rash at some stage. Although this is rarely serious, the rash can be highly distressing for you and your baby. Nappy rash, lasting longer than three days, may be fungal in origin and require an antifungal treatment. The symptoms of fungal nappy rash include red patches on the baby’s bottom and genitals, burning and itching.
How to use Canesten Clotrimazole Cream
- Before use, pierce the tube seal by inverting the cap over the end of the tube and press.
- If the feet are infected, they should be washed and dried thoroughly, especially between the toes, before applying the cream.

- A strip of cream (1/2 cm long) is enough to treat an area about the size of the hand.
- The duration of the treatment depends upon the type of infection. Generally, a minimum of two weeks is required, although up to four weeks may be necessary.
The symptoms of a skin infection, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment, although signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
You can help the treatment to work if you follow these simple self-help tips:
- Although the infected area will itch, try not to scratch. Scratching will damage the skin's surface and cause the infection to spread further.
- Keep the affected skin areas clean.
- Pay particular attention to drying the skin, but avoid excessive rubbing.
- Do not share towels, bath mats, etc., with others, as you could spread the infection to them.
- Always wash your hands after treating the infection to prevent it from spreading.
