What is Balance Activ Moisture Gel
Don't let vaginal dryness hold you back. Intimate discomfort and dryness have many causes. Vaginal or intimate dryness is one of the most common menopausal conditions, and it is estimated that 57% of post-menopausal and 15% of pre/perimenopausal women suffer from intimate dryness.
Our NEW Balance Activ Moisturising Gel, along with our current Pessary, have both been formulated to provide fast-acting, soothing relief from vaginal dryness and discomfort. Both are free from hormones and irritants. The gel contains a patented mix of 2 Hyaluronic acids which helps provide longer-lasting relief. It’s a very light formulation designed to make you feel “natural” and comfortable again. Our moisturising products are specifically formulated to accommodate all stages of menopause. This is important as typically the pH of the vagina increases from pre to post-menopause.
How to use Balance Activ Moisture Gel
It is most convenient to use the gel before bedtime when lying down in a comfortable position. This can reduce leakage, although you may choose to wear a panty liner.
- Wash your hands.
- Twist off the cap, insert the whole of the neck of the tube into the vagina and squeeze out the contents.
- Remove the tube whilst continuing to squeeze, and discard.
- Wash your hands. Some slight leakage may occur, but rest assured product is still working effectively.

Information about vaginal thrush
Vaginal thrush (candidiasis) is a common infection that most women suffer from at some time in their lives and is not caused by lack of personal hygiene.
Thrush is caused by a yeast (fungus) called Candida which lives harmlessly in the vagina and other parts of the body, without you even noticing it. However, the natural balance that keeps Candida under control can be upset by many factors such as hormonal changes (menstruation, contraceptive pill, pregnancy, menopause), poor health, antibiotics, perfumed soaps, bath additives and tight clothing.
If the natural pH balance is altered, the level of yeast increases and can develop into a thrush infection-causing any of the following symptoms: persistent burning and/or itching around the vagina and vulva, redness, swelling and soreness of the tissues of the vagina and vulva and a whitish, odourless discharge from the vagina. Not everybody who has thrush has all these symptoms; you may have only one of them.
How to avoid future recurrences of thrush
✓ Wear cotton knickers and loose clothing.
✓ Wash daily.
✓ After going to the toilet, wipe yourself from the front to back as a thrush infection may be transferred from the bowel.
✓ Change your sanitary protection regularly.
✗ Try to avoid wearing tights, nylon knickers and close-fitting jeans.
✗ Try to avoid washing with perfumed soaps or using vaginal deodorants.
✗ Do not wash or rub yourself hard with sponges or flannels and avoid hot baths with strong perfumed oils
If you are still worried or have any questions about the symptoms or the treatment of thrush, do not hesitate to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Balance Activ BV - 7 Pessaries
MenopauseIn stockMore InformationWhen you have an intimate condition such as Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), you want a product that you can trust to treat it, and one that works in harmony with your body. There's no need to use antibiotics to treat BV as this can disrupt the good bacteria. The Balance Activ range can provide clinically proven relief from the vaginal discharge, odour and discomfort. It's a naturally working alternative that works.
What is Bacterial Vaginosis?
Bacterial Vaginosis, or BV, occurs when there's a change in the natural pH balance in the vagina. This then causes a change in the bacterial environment.
Healthy vaginas are slightly acidic, thanks to the presence of good bacteria called lactobacilli that produce lactic acid. However, if these are in short supply, harmful bacteria can grow and trigger occurrences of BV.
Although 'Bacterial Vaginosis' sounds scary BV is very common. More women in the UK suffer from it than any other vaginal condition. And it's twice as prevalent as thrush, even though BV is often mistaken for thrush, purely because this is better known. Because very few people have heard of BV, they typically treat symptoms as thrush. This can cause recurrences of BV and sometimes lead to thrush.
BV is normal and natural. Lots of things can cause it, but here is an idea of the most common causes:
- Excessive Washing - Internal washing – this can upset your vagina's natural balance
- Perfumed Soaps - Perfumed intimate hygiene products
- Menstruation - Your monthly menstrual cycle can upset the balance
- Semen - As the pH of semen is higher than the pH of your vagina.
When is the best time to use Balance Activ Gel or Pessaries?
Before bed – laying down will help the gel or pessary stay in place.
What are the symptoms of BV?
The symptoms of BV are quite similar to thrush, but there are a few main differences. BV symptoms usually include a watery discharge (sometimes grey in colour) and a strong unpleasant odour (often fishy). These are the two main symptoms of BV.
Can I use Balance Activ to maintain pH balance and help stop re-occurrence?
If you notice a re-occurrence of symptoms or suspect your vaginal balance isn't as it should be, you can use Balance Activ BV treatment gel to help restore normal pH and vaginal flora. This could be around key times when you have noticed a pattern of BV occurrences, e.g. around your period.
- Excessive Washing - Internal washing – this can upset your vagina's natural balance

Intimate HygieneIn stockMore InformationWhat Is Balance Activ Menopause Moisture Plus
The gel is available in a pack of 7 single-use, hygienic applicators and the pessary is sold in a pack of 10.
How To Use Balance Activ Menopause Moisture Plus
It is most convenient to use both gel & pessary formats at bedtime when lying down in a comfortable position. This helps them stay in place and can reduce leakage, although you may choose to wear a panty liner.
How To Use Balance Activ Gel:
Twist off the cap, insert the whole of the neck of the tube into the vagina, and squeeze out the contents.
Remove the tube whilst continuing to squeeze, and discard.
There may be a slight leakage, so it may be helpful to wear a panty liner. If this occurs, rest assured the product is still working effectively.
How to use Balance Activ Pessaries:
To use vaginal Pessaries, wash hands and remove a single pessary from the foil wrapping.
Sit or lie down with knees bent and legs apart. Gently insert the pessary into the vagina as far as is comfortably possible using your fingers.
Wash hands again. Remember, the pessary should not be divided as it is intended for single use.
