What is Pholcodine Linctus?

Care Pholcodine Linctus is for symptomatic relief of dry or irritating coughs.

Care Pholcodine 5mg/5ml Oral Solution Sugar Free is for symptomatic relief of dry or irritating coughs. It contains Pholcodine 5mg per 5ml. Pholcodine reduces the desire to cough.

Pholcodine works for dry, irritating coughs by reducing the desire to cough and is suitable for children over 12 years old and adults. This linctus can be used by elderly patients but with caution not to exceed the recommended dose. If pregnant, use of Care Pholcodine Linctus, especially in the first three months of pregnancy, should be avoided unless recommended by a doctor. Not to be taken with other cough and cold medicines.

What is a dry cough?

A dry cough, which is also called a tickly cough, is a type of cough that doesn’t bring up and mucus or phlegm. Dry coughs are often caused by irritation in your throat, which creates that tickly, annoying feeling that triggers your cough. There are lots of reasons why you may get a dry cough, with some of the most common including:

• Cold and flu
• Asthma
• Acid reflux or heartburn
• Allergies, e.g. hay fever
• Sore throat

Who can use Pholcodine Linctus

It can be used by adults, the elderly and children over 12 years.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, do not use this product unless advised to do so by your doctor.

How to use Pholcodine Linctus

Take the solution by mouth. Take 1 or 2 x 5ml spoonfuls. Can be taken three or four times daily if required but not more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

Do not exceed the stated dose. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

Do not take with other cough and cold medicines.
