60 Loperamide Hydrochloride Diarrhoea Relief 2mg Capsules
DiarrhoeaIn stockMore InformationWhat is Loperamide Hydrochloride, and when is it used?
Loperamide is a medicine to treat Diarrhoea (runny poo). It can also help with short term diarrhoea or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Loperamide is also used for long-lasting Diarrhoea from bowel problems such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and short bowel syndrome. If you have a colostomy to give you a stoma (an opening in your stomach to collect poo from your body), Loperamide can help to slow down your bowel and make your poo thicker.
Key facts of Loperamide
- Diarrhoea which starts suddenly usually gets better on its own within 5 to 7 days. If you need immediate, short term relief, taking Loperamide can cut down the number of times you go to the toilet, and it makes your poo less watery.
- Adults should take 2 tablets or capsules straight away if they suffer from short term diarrhoea. After this take 1 each time you do a runny poo.
- Don't exceed the recommended amount. Exceeding the recommended amount can lead to serious heart problems (including a fast or irregular heartbeat).
How will it treat my symptoms?
Loperamide works by slowing down the muscle movements in your gut, so an increased amount of water is absorbed from your stools. This leads to your stools becoming firmer, and they're passed less frequently.
What causes Diarrhoea?
Diarrhoea is usually caused by a bowel infection known as gastroenteritis. Other known causes are:
- Alcohol
- Appendicitis
- Food allergy
If you are taking any other medicine currently, check the side effects to make sure that they do not cause Diarrhoea. Chronic or long-term Diarrhoea can be a symptom of a more severe condition, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

Fungal InfectionsIn stockGet started£6.94What is Canesten Thrush External Cream
Canesten Thrush External Cream relieves irritation of the vulva (vulvitis) which is caused by vaginal thrush (candidiasis).
Although this cream provides relief from the external irritation caused by vaginal thrush, it cannot treat any internal (vaginal) cause of the infection. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend a treatment for this.
Only use this product if you have been previously diagnosed by your doctor as having vaginal thrush.
Some women suffer from recurrent attacks of thrush. To reduce the frequency of these attacks, the sexual partner’s penis can be treated with this cream to prevent re-infection, even if they have no symptoms of thrush.
The active substance in Canesten Thrush External Cream is clotrimazole. Clotrimazole belongs to a group of medicines called azoles and is an antifungal agent which fights the cause of infections such as vaginal thrush.
Information about vaginal thrush
Vaginal thrush (candidiasis) is a common infection that most women suffer from at some time in their lives and is not caused by lack of personal hygiene.
Thrush is caused by a yeast (fungus) called Candida which lives harmlessly in the vagina and other parts of the body, without you even noticing it. However, the natural balance that keeps Candida under control can be upset by many factors such as hormonal changes (menstruation, contraceptive pill, pregnancy, menopause), poor health, antibiotics, perfumed soaps, bath additives and tight clothing.
If the natural pH balance is altered, the level of yeast increases and can develop into a thrush infection-causing any of the following symptoms: persistent burning and/or itching around the vagina and vulva, redness, swelling and soreness of the tissues of the vagina and vulva and a whitish, odourless discharge from the vagina. Not everybody who has thrush has all these symptoms; you may have only one of them.
How to avoid future recurrences of thrush
ā Wear cotton knickers and loose clothing.
ā Wash daily.
ā After going to the toilet, wipe yourself from the front to back as a thrush infection may be transferred from the bowel.
ā Change your sanitary protection regularly.
ā Try to avoid wearing tights, nylon knickers and close-fitting jeans.
ā Try to avoid washing with perfumed soaps or using vaginal deodorants.
ā Do not wash or rub yourself hard with sponges or flannels and avoid hot baths with strong perfumed oils
If you are still worried or have any questions about the symptoms or the treatment of thrush, do not hesitate to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Lamisil AT 1% Cream - 15g
Foot CareIn stockMore InformationWhat is Lamisil AT 1% Cream?
Lamisil AT 1% Cream contains the active ingredient terbinafine hydrochloride which is an antifungal used to treat fungal skin infection, such as:
- Athleteās foot (tinea pedis) ā Athleteās foot appears only on the feet (usually both, but not always), usually in between the toes. It can also appear on the instep, soles, or other areas of the feet. The most common type of athleteās foot causes cracking or scaling of the skin, but you may also have mild swelling, blisters, or weeping ulcers. Lamisil AT 1% Cream is recommended for athleteās foot when it occurs between the toes. If you have a fungal nail infection (fungus inside and under the nail) with discolouration of the nails and changes in nail texture (thick or flaky), you should consult your doctor because Lamisil AT 1% Cream is not appropriate for this type of infection.
- Dhobie itch/jock itch (tinea cruris) ā Dhobie itch appears in the groin and inner thigh area, usually on both sides but often with one side more than the other, where it can spread further between the legs to the buttocks, or up towards the stomach. Dhobie itch looks like a clearly bordered rash, which may have blisters.
How to use Lamisil AT 1% Cream
Adults: For Athleteās Foot and dhobie itch, apply the cream once a day, for one week.
- Cleanse and dry the affected areas thoroughly and wash your hands. Treatment can be helped by keeping the affected areas clean by regular washing and careful drying with your own clean towels and clothes, and not rubbing or scratching the skin.
- Unscrew the cap then gently squeeze out a small amount of the cream onto your finger.
- Apply just enough cream to form a thin layer on the affected skin and surrounding areas.
- Rub in gently. When used between the toes, buttocks or on the groin, the treated area may be covered with a light, fresh gauze strip, especially at night.
- Replace the cap on the tube and wash your hands
Even though you will not be using Lamisil AT 1% Cream during the second week, full skin healing after the infection has cleared will continue for up to 4 weeks. If you have not noticed any signs of improvement within 2 weeks of first starting treatment, please seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.

The active ingredient is terbinafine hydrochloride 1% w/w.

How to use The EyeBag - MGDRx - The Warm Eye Compress
The EyeBagĀ® should only be warmed by a responsible adult. Remove the EyeBagĀ® from the blue box and place it on a clean, microwaveable plate. Do not use the metal griddle supplied with some microwaves as this may burn your EyeBagĀ®.
Place in microwave and heat on full power:
Above 750w - 30 seconds
750w and below - 40 seconds
Caution: If your microwave is greater than 1000w, you may need to reduce the time.
The EyeBagĀ® is designed to be warmed in a microwave oven but if you do not have access to a microwave you can use the warming oven of an Aga, or even a conventional electric oven at a low temperature. Use the āplate warmingā setting which is about 50-60 degrees Centigrade or equivalent for about 10 minutes.
Older EyeBagsĀ® may take slightly longer to heat and will retain the heat for shorter periods of time. Usually, you can reheat an EyeBagĀ® about 200 times before it needs to be replaced. You can cautiously increase the heating time a little if you need to, but you must not cook it for more than 60 seconds at a time.
How often should the EyeBagĀ® be used?
We recommend using your EyeBagĀ® twice a day for the first fortnight. After this 3-4 times a week is usual but adjust according to the severity of your symptoms.
Your EyeBagĀ® should be replaced after 6 months use.
