Canesten Hydrocortisone Cream - 15g
Fungal InfectionsIn stockMore InformationWhat is Canesten Hydrocortisone Cream?
Canesten Hydrocortisone is used to treat athlete’s foot and fungal sweat rash when there are additional symptoms of inflammation (such as swelling, redness and itching).
Canesten Hydrocortisone treats the fungal skin infection and reduces the swelling and itching caused by it.
The active substances in Canesten Hydrocortisone are clotrimazole and hydrocortisone acetate. Clotrimazole belongs to a group of medicines called imidazoles, which destroy the fungi and some bacteria that cause skin infections. Hydrocortisone acetate is a mild steroid which reduces swelling, redness and itching associated with inflammation of the skin.
What are fungal infections?
Fungal infections are very common and affect many people. Two of the most common fungal skin infections include athlete’s foot and sweat rash.
There are two main types of fungal infection:
- The tinea group, also known as dermatophytes.
- The candida group, also known as yeasts.
The tinea group includes athlete’s foot which is easily spread by contact. The fungus that causes athlete’s foot usually lives harmlessly on our skin and in our environment. The natural balance that normally keeps it under control can be upset by factors such as damp, moist conditions. This could happen, for example, through regularly wearing training shoes that keep the feet hot and sweaty. Since this fungus is contagious, it can also often be picked up in changing rooms. The main symptom is an itchy, scaly and irritating rash.
The candida group can be responsible for conditions such as sweat rash. Sweat rash can appear anywhere on the body but is more likely to occur where folds of skin rub against each other, such as: under the breasts, under arms, around the groin and on the back. Candida is a yeast-like fungus that usually lives harmlessly on our skin. However, the natural balance that normally keeps it under control can be upset by factors such as sweating, tight or synthetic clothing and cosmetic preparations such as bath additives. When levels of the yeast increase, the skin can develop the following symptoms: persistent burning and itching, soreness and a variety of patches or blemishes as well as a softened and soggy appearance.
How to use Canesten Hydrocortisone Cream
- Before use, pierce the tube seal by inverting the cap over the end of the tube and press.
- If the feet are infected, they should be washed and dried thoroughly, especially between the toes, before applying the cream.
- Canesten Hydrocortisone should be applied thinly and evenly to the affected areas twice daily and rubbed in gently. Approximately 1cm of cream per application should be enough.
- Do not cover the area being treated with a dressing or bandage.
- As with all products containing hydrocortisone, you should wash your hands immediately after applying the cream.
The symptoms of a skin infection, such as itching or soreness should improve within a few days of treatment although signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear. If the symptoms persist or do not start to improve after seven days, consult your doctor.
You can help the treatment to work if you follow these simple self-help tips:
- Although the infected area will itch, try not to scratch. Scratching will damage the surface of the skin and cause the infection to spread further.
- Keep the affected skin areas clean.
- Pay particular attention to drying the skin, but avoid excessive rubbing.
- Do not share towels, bath mats, etc. with other people as you could spread the infection to them.
- Always wash your hands after treating the infection to prevent it from spreading.
If you have athlete’s foot:
- Remember to dry the skin between the toes thoroughly.
- Wash your socks, stockings and tights thoroughly in hot water to remove any shed skin or fungal spores.
- Change your footwear daily if possible.
What does Canesten Hydrocortisone Cream contain?
The active substances are clotrimazole and hydrocortisone acetate. Each gram of cream contains 10mg clotrimazole and 11.2mg hydrocortisone acetate (equivalent to 10mg hydrocortisone).

60 Loperamide Hydrochloride Diarrhoea Relief 2mg Capsules
DiarrhoeaIn stockMore InformationWhat is Loperamide Hydrochloride, and when is it used?
Loperamide is a medicine to treat Diarrhoea (runny poo). It can also help with short term diarrhoea or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Loperamide is also used for long-lasting Diarrhoea from bowel problems such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and short bowel syndrome. If you have a colostomy to give you a stoma (an opening in your stomach to collect poo from your body), Loperamide can help to slow down your bowel and make your poo thicker.
Key facts of Loperamide
- Diarrhoea which starts suddenly usually gets better on its own within 5 to 7 days. If you need immediate, short term relief, taking Loperamide can cut down the number of times you go to the toilet, and it makes your poo less watery.
- Adults should take 2 tablets or capsules straight away if they suffer from short term diarrhoea. After this take 1 each time you do a runny poo.
- Don't exceed the recommended amount. Exceeding the recommended amount can lead to serious heart problems (including a fast or irregular heartbeat).
How will it treat my symptoms?
Loperamide works by slowing down the muscle movements in your gut, so an increased amount of water is absorbed from your stools. This leads to your stools becoming firmer, and they're passed less frequently.
What causes Diarrhoea?
Diarrhoea is usually caused by a bowel infection known as gastroenteritis. Other known causes are:
- Alcohol
- Appendicitis
- Food allergy
If you are taking any other medicine currently, check the side effects to make sure that they do not cause Diarrhoea. Chronic or long-term Diarrhoea can be a symptom of a more severe condition, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
EllaOne Emergency Contraception - "Morning After Pill" - 1 Tablet
ContraceptivesIn stockMore InformationEllaOne Emergency Contraception - "Morning After Pill" - 1 Tablet
ContraceptivesIn stockGet started£16.84What is EllaOne Emergency Contraception
ellaOne is an emergency contraceptive
ellaOne is a contraceptive intended to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or if your contraceptive method has failed. For example:
- if you had sex without protection;
- if your or your partner’s condom tore, slipped or came off, or if you forgot to use one;
- if you did not take your contraceptive pill as recommended.
You should take the tablet as soon as possible after sex and within a maximum of 5 days (120 hours). This is because it is more effective if you take it as soon as possible after unprotected sex.
This medicine is suitable for any woman of childbearing age, including adolescents.
You can take the tablet at any time during the menstrual cycle.
ellaOne does not work if you are already pregnant.
If your menstrual period is late, there is a possibility that you may be pregnant. When your period is late or when you have pregnancy symptoms (heavy breasts, morning sickness), you should consult a doctor or other healthcare professional before taking the tablet.
If you have unprotected sex after taking the tablet, it will not stop you from becoming pregnant. Unprotected sex at any time during your cycle can lead to pregnancy.
ellaOne is not to be used for regular contraception
If you do not have a regular method of contraception, talk to your doctor or healthcare professional to choose one that is suitable for you.
How ellaOne works
ellaOne contains the substance ulipristal acetate, which acts by modifying the activity of the natural hormone progesterone, which is necessary for ovulation to occur. As a result, this medicine works by postponing ovulation. Emergency contraception is not effective in every case. Of 100 women who take this medicine, approximately 2 will become pregnant.
This medicine is a contraceptive used to prevent a pregnancy from starting. If you are already pregnant, it will not interrupt an existing pregnancy.
Emergency contraception does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
Only condoms can protect you from sexually transmitted infections. This medicine will not protect you against HIV infection or other sexually transmitted diseases (e.g. chlamydia, genital herpes, genital warts, gonorrhoea, hepatitis B and syphilis). Ask a healthcare professional for advice if you are worried about this.
How to take EllaOne Emergency Contraception
- Take one tablet by mouth as soon as possible and no later than 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. Take the tablet without delay.
- You can take the tablet at any time in your cycle.
- You can take the tablet at any time of the day, either before, during or after a meal.
- If you are using one of the medicines that may prevent ellaOne from working properly (see section 2 “What you need to know before you take ellaOne”) or if you have used one of these medicines in the past 4 weeks, ellaOne may work less effectively for you. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using ellaOne. Your doctor may prescribe another type of (non-hormonal) emergency contraceptive, i.e. a Cu-IUD.
If you vomit after taking ellaOne
If you vomit (be sick, throw up) within 3 hours of taking the tablet, take another tablet as soon as possible.
If you have sex again after taking ellaOne
If you have unprotected sex after taking the tablet, it will not stop you from becoming pregnant. After you take the tablet and until your next period comes, you should use condoms every time you have sex.
If your next period is late after taking ellaOne
After taking the tablet, it is normal for your next period to be a few days late.
However, if your period is more than 7 days late, if it is unusually light or cumbersome, or if you experience symptoms such as abdominal (stomach) pain, breast tenderness, vomiting or nausea, you may be pregnant. You should do a pregnancy test right away. If you are pregnant, you must see your doctor. (See section “Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility”)
If you take more ellaOne than you should
There have been no reports of harmful effects from taking a higher dose than recommended of this medicine. However, do ask your pharmacist, doctor or other healthcare professional for advice. If you have any further questions on using this medicine, ask your pharmacist, doctor or other healthcare professional.

Tattoo CareIn stockMore InformationWhat is Bepanthen Nappy Rash Ointment
Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment is an easy to apply and breathable barrier cream that helps keep little bottoms happy and protected from the causes of nappy rash.
Young baby skin is very reactive and sensitive; it needs a gentle product to care for and protect. Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment is so gentle that it can be used at every nappy change to help the most delicate skin, as it’s free from fragrance, preservatives, colourants or antiseptics.
Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment works in two ways to care for a baby’s skin and protect it from the causes of nappy rash:
Aids Natural Skin Recovery
Bepanthen contains Pro-Vitamin B5 which gently aids the natural recovery of sensitive skin while keeping it soft, smooth and moisturised. Bepanthen also works by helping to seal in the skin's natural moisture, providing optimal conditions to allow gentle skin recovery without drying out your baby's delicate skin.
Protects
Clinically proven, Bepanthen works by forming a transparent layer protecting even the most delicate skin from irritants and rubbing. The water-in-oil formulation keeps the skin healthy and hydrated, which is essential to maintain its natural protective barrier.
How to use Bepanthen Nappy Rash Ointment
A thin layer of Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment should be applied to your baby’s clean, dry bottom after each nappy change, especially at bedtime when the nappy is usually on for the longest during the night. Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment offers additional comfort for the baby being non-sticky as well as convenience for the mother as it does not need to be cleaned off at the next nappy change.
What does Bepanthen Nappy Rash Ointment contain?
Aqua, Lanolin, Paraffinum liquidum, Petrolatum, Panthenol, Prunus amygdalus dulcis oil, Cera alba, Cetyl alcohol, Stearyl alcohol, Ozokerite, Glyceryl oleate, Lanolin alcohol.
The formulation contains paraffin oil, petrolatum and almond oil which create a protective layer on the skin.
We can confirm that the product contains a nut derived ingredient; the product contains Prunus amygdalus dulcis oil (sweet almond oil).
Any allergy-causing proteins of almond should be removed during the ingredients refining process, however, we are unable to make any guarantee of this and are unable to recommend that the product is suitable for those with a nut allergy.
We recommend you raise any concerns you may have about using the product with your doctor or pharmacist.
