What is Lamisil AT 1% Cream?

Lamisil AT 1% Cream contains the active ingredient terbinafine hydrochloride which is an antifungal used to treat fungal skin infection, such as:

    • Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) – Athlete’s foot appears only on the feet (usually both, but not always), usually in between the toes. It can also appear on the instep, soles, or other areas of the feet. The most common type of athlete’s foot causes cracking or scaling of the skin, but you may also have mild swelling, blisters, or weeping ulcers. Lamisil AT 1% Cream is recommended for athlete’s foot when it occurs between the toes. If you have a fungal nail infection (fungus inside and under the nail) with discolouration of the nails and changes in nail texture (thick or flaky), you should consult your doctor because Lamisil AT 1% Cream is not appropriate for this type of infection.
    • Dhobie itch/jock itch (tinea cruris) – Dhobie itch appears in the groin and inner thigh area, usually on both sides but often with one side more than the other, where it can spread further between the legs to the buttocks, or up towards the stomach. Dhobie itch looks like a clearly bordered rash, which may have blisters.

How to use Lamisil AT 1% Cream

Adults: For Athlete’s Foot and dhobie itch, apply the cream once a day, for one week.

    • Cleanse and dry the affected areas thoroughly and wash your hands. Treatment can be helped by keeping the affected areas clean by regular washing and careful drying with your own clean towels and clothes, and not rubbing or scratching the skin.
    • Unscrew the cap then gently squeeze out a small amount of the cream onto your finger.
    • Apply just enough cream to form a thin layer on the affected skin and surrounding areas.
    • Rub in gently. When used between the toes, buttocks or on the groin, the treated area may be covered with a light, fresh gauze strip, especially at night.
    • Replace the cap on the tube and wash your hands

Even though you will not be using Lamisil AT 1% Cream during the second week, full skin healing after the infection has cleared will continue for up to 4 weeks. If you have not noticed any signs of improvement within 2 weeks of first starting treatment, please seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.

What does Lamisil AT 1% Cream contain

The active ingredient is terbinafine hydrochloride 1% w/w.

It can only be used by adults over the age of 18, who have a maximum of two infected nails. For best results, it requires regular use (once a week). Fungal nail conditions typically take 9-12 months for toenails and 6 months for fingernails to recover when Canespro Fungal Nail Treatment is used regularly.

When Canespro Fungal Nail Treatment Should Not Be Used

Canespro Fungal Nail Treatment should NOT be used if:

    • You are diabetic

    • You have used Canespro Fungal Nail Treatment in the past six months and it has reoccurred.

    • You suffer from skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
    • You are pregnant or breastfeeding

How to use Canespro Fungal Nail Treatment

    • Using the nail file, file down the surface before using Amorolfine for the first time.
    • Thereafter clean the nail.
    • Using a reusable applicator, apply Canespro Fungal Nail Treatment to the entire nail surface and allow it to dry completely.
    • Do not wipe the lacquer off on the bottle of the neck, as this will give rise to transmission and reinfection.
    • Do not apply to the skin around the nail.

    Additional Information

    • Canespro Fungal Nail Treatment is highly flammable and should not be used in contact with naked open flames.
    • Avoid using nail polish or artificial nails, with this treatment

What is Curanail 5% Medicated Nail Laquer

Curanail contains the active substance amorolfine. This belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals.

Curanail is used to treat mild fungal nail infections in adults aged 18 years and over.

It should only be used if:

    • you have 1 or 2 nails affected
    • the upper half or sides of the nail are affected.

Amorolfine kills a wide variety of fungi that can cause nail infections. Fungal nail infections can look very different, your nails could be discoloured (white, yellow or brown), thick or brittle.

How to use Curanail 5% Medicated Nail Laquer

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

    Keeping a record

Before you start using the medicine you should keep a record of how your nail looks:

    • Shade the area affected by the infection to assess your progress.
    • If you have 2 nails affected, just do this for your worst nail.
    • Every 3 months, shade the area affected in the next diagram.
    • Do this until the infected nail has completely grown out.

This will help you remember how your nail looked so you can see your progress.

    How long to use Curanail

    • You need to use the medicine once a week until the infection has cleared and healthy nails have grown back.
    • This usually takes 6 months for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails.
    • You will see a healthy nail growing as the infected nail grows out.
    • Nails grow slowly so it may take 2 or 3 months before you start to see an improvement.

After every 3 months of treatment:

    • If the infection has improved, continue the treatment.
    • If the infection is the same or worse talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

    Safe use of Curanail

    • If you get the medicine in your eyes or ears wash it out with water and talk to your doctor or pharmacist or go to the nearest hospital straight away.
    • Do not let the medicine come into contact with your mouth or nostrils (or other mucous membranes).
    • Do not inhale the medicine.
    • Do not let anyone else use the files from your kit -this will stop the spread of infection.
    • If you need to use chemicals such as paint thinners or white spirit when you have applied the medicine to your fingernails, wear rubber or other waterproof (impermeable) gloves. This will protect the medicine on your nails.

    Step 1: Prepare the nail

Using a new file, gently file down the infected areas of the nail, including the nail surface. Protect any healthy nails while you are doing this so that you don't spread the infection.

CAUTION: Do not use the same nail file for infected nails and healthy nails, as this could spread the infection as well. To prevent the spread of infection take care that no one else uses the files from your kit.

    Step 2: Clean the nail

Use one of the swabs provided to clean the nail surface. Do not throw the swab away as you will need it later to clean the applicator.

    Step 3: Treat the nail

Dip one of the re-usable applicators into the bottle of nail lacquer. The lacquer must not be wiped off on the edge of the bottle before it is applied. Apply the nail lacquer evenly over the entire surface of the nail. Let the treated nail(s) dry for approximately 3 minutes.

What does Curanail 5% Medicated Nail Laquer contain?

    What is Vicks First Defence?

Vicks First Defence is a remedy for the frequent cold, that helps to capture the virus clinically proven to prevent a cold in its tracks. It can lessen the severity of your cold symptoms, which means that your cold will not last so long or be as hard to manage.

How can Vicks First Defence cure and prevent a cold?

Vicks First Defence utilises a unique micro-gel formula to snare the cold viruses which begin to grow in the back of the nose. It lessens the pH levels in the rear of the nose to block the infection from spreading and multiplying. Ultimately, it disturbs your nose to help you to eliminate the virus by blowing the nose or sending it directly in your gut.

When should I use Vicks First Defence?

For optimum results, you need to use Vicks First Defence when possible after discovering that you have a cold. A number of the first symptoms you may notice when you are having a cold include a tickle in the back of the throat and coughing.

How to use Vicks First Defence

Start with Vicks First Defence after you feel the first signs of a cold, like sneezing or a tickle in your throat. Insert nozzle into your nostril, aiming in the direction of your ear and without tilting your head. Apply 2-3 sprays in each nostril up to four times every day, enabling 4 hours to pass between every spray. Don't use more than four applications daily.
