What are Imodium Capsules?

Imodium Classic Capsules is a treatment that can help ease two distinct kinds of diarrhoea. If you are suffering from brief-term diarrhoea or diarrhoea brought on by IBS, this medication can help reduce your symptoms and lessen the number of times you will need to visit the bathroom.

The capsules contain loperamide hydrochloride, a substance that helps reduce diarrhoea by slowing down an overactive bowel. This allows water and salts that are usually lost in diarrhoea to be absorbed by the body.

What causes diarrhoea?

The most frequent causes of short term diarrhoea are gut bugs and food poisoning, each of which will usually clear themselves up in seven days. But, you might even experience diarrhoea in case you've got long-term conditions such as food allergies or intolerance, IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), or coeliac disease.

How can Loperamide 2mg cure my diarrhoea?

The 2mg of Loperamide in each Imodium Classic Capsule helps you to deal with diarrhoea by slowing your overactive gut. This lowers the number of times you'll have to visit the bathroom and provides your body with the opportunity to consume the water and additives which are typically lost when you have diarrhoea.

How to take Imodium Capsules

To begin your therapy, consume two Imodium Capsules with a drink of water, then take another capsule after each loose bowel movement. Don't take more than six capsules in any 24 hours. Don't forget to drink more fluids than usual to replace the fluid that your body loses when you've got diarrhoea.

How long to take Loperamide 2mg for?

If you're treating short term diarrhoea, then you shouldn't take Imodium Loperamide Capsules for over two days. If your diarrhoea lasts more than this, cease use and talk to your physician. If you're treating diarrhoea brought on by IBS, then you can take this medication for as much as two weeks at a time to deal with repeated attacks. But, you shouldn't take this product to take care of any attack that lasts more than two days. Speak with your health care provider if your diarrhoea lasts for over 48 hours or if your symptoms haven't improved after two weeks.

The medicine can be used to treat thrush (vaginal candidiasis). The woman’s sexual partner may also use it to treat associated penile thrush (candidal balanitis).

Thrush is a common infection caused by a yeast (or fungus), which may live harmlessly in the vagina without you even noticing it.

However, in certain circumstances, it may develop into an infection in the vagina, and symptoms may spread to the surrounding area. The symptoms may include one or more of the following:

    • Itching of the vagina and surrounding area (the vulva)
    • Redness and swelling of the tissues of the vagina and vulva
    • Soreness of the vagina and vulva

If your partner has penile thrush, he may have one or more of the following symptoms:

    • Soreness and redness of the penis
    • Tightness of the foreskin
    • A white non-smelling penile discharge

What is the recommended dosage for Fluconazole?

    • Check the foil is not broken before use. If it is, do not take the capsule.
    • Adults aged 16 to 60 years: Take one capsule once only.
    • Swallow the capsule whole with water.
    • Do not give to children under 16 years, or take if you are an adult of 61 years or older unless your doctor tells you to.
    • Do not take more than the amount recommended above.
    • Talk to your doctor if symptoms do not go away within seven days.
    • If your symptoms worsen at any time, talk to your doctor.
    • If symptoms clear up but then return after seven days, you can take another capsule, unless you had an allergic reaction the first time.

    What are Maloff Protect Tablets?

Maloff Protect belongs to a group of medicines called antimalarials. It contains two active ingredients, atovaquone and proguanil hydrochloride.

Maloff Protect is used to prevent malaria. It is available from the pharmacy for adults. It is not suitable for use in children or adolescents unless it has been prescribed for them by a doctor. If you are under 18 and you are visiting an area where there is malaria, talk to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist for advice.

Malaria is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito, which passes the malaria parasite (Plasmodium falciparum) into the bloodstream. Maloff Protect prevents malaria by killing this parasite.

    Protect yourself from malaria

People of any age can get malaria. It is a serious disease, but it is preventable. As well as taking Maloff Protect, it is very important that you also take steps to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes. The bite avoidance measures listed below should be used in combination for maximum effectiveness.

    • Use insect repellent on exposed areas of the skin.
    • Wear clothing that covers most of the body, especially after sunset as this is the time when mosquitoes are most active.
    • Sleep in a room with screened windows and doors or under a mosquito net (it is preferable to sleep under a mosquito net treated with insecticide if possible).
    • Close windows and doors at sunset, if they are not screened.
    • Sleep in a room with air-conditioning or a fan, as mosquitoes are less active in cooler temperatures.
    • Consider using an insecticide (mats, spray, plug-ins) to clear a room of insects or to stop mosquitoes from entering the room.

How to take Maloff Protect Tablets

Take Maloff Protect with food or a milky drink, where possible as this helps your body absorb the active ingredients.

It is best to take Maloff Protect at the same time each day.

Adults: Take one tablet once a day, as described below.

    • Start taking Maloff Protect one to two days before travelling to an area which has malaria.
    • Continue taking it every day during your stay.
    • Take Maloff Protect for another seven days after your return to a malaria-free area.
    • Take the full course of Maloff Protect for maximum protection. Stopping early puts you at risk of getting malaria, as it takes seven days to ensure that any parasites that may be in your blood after a bite from an infected mosquito are killed.

What do Maloff Protect Tablets contain

The active substances are atovaquone and proguanil hydrochloride. Each tablet contains 250 mg atovaquone and 100 mg proguanil hydrochloride.

What are Guardium Tablets Heartburn and Acid Reflux Control Tablets

This medicine contains the active substance esomeprazole. It belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. They work by reducing the amount of acid that your stomach produces.

This medicine is used in adults for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation).

Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet ("food pipe") which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

This medicine is not meant to bring immediate relief. You may need to take the tablets for 2-3 days in a row before you feel better. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.

What are the symptoms of heartburn

The normal symptoms of reflux are a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

Why do you get these symptoms?

Heartburn can be a result of eating too much, eating high-fat food, eating too quickly and drinking lots of alcohol. You may also notice that when you lie down, your heartburn gets worse. If you are overweight or smoke you increase the probability of suffering from heartburn.

What can I do to help relieve my symptoms

    • Eat healthier food and try to avoid spicy and fatty foods and large meals late before bedtime.
    • Avoid fizzy drinks, coffee, chocolate and alcohol.
    • Eat slowly and eat smaller portions.
    • Try to lose weight.
    • Stop smoking.

How to take Guardium Tablets Heartburn and Acid Reflux Control Tablets

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Adults aged 18 years and over:

    • The recommended dose is one tablet a day.
    • Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don’t feel an improvement immediately.
    • You may need to take the tablets for 2 or 3 days in a row before your reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation) get better.
    • The treatment length is up to 14 days.
    • When your reflux symptoms have completely gone you should stop taking this medicine.
    • If your reflux symptoms get worse or do not improve after taking this medicine for 14 days in a row, you should consult a doctor.

Children and adolescents less than 18 years of age:

    • Do not give this medicine to children or adolescents under 18 years of age.

If you have persistent or longstanding, frequently recurring symptoms even after treatment with this medicine, you should contact your doctor.

    Taking Guardium Tablets

    • You can take your tablet at any time of the day either with food or on an empty stomach.
    • Swallow your tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablet. This is because the tablet contains coated pellets, which stop the medicine from being broken down by the acid in your stomach. It is important not to damage the pellets.

Alternative method of taking Guardium Tablets

    • Put the tablet in a glass of still (non-fizzy) water. Do not use any other liquids.
    • Stir until the tablet breaks up (the mixture will not be clear) then drink the mixture straight away or within 30 minutes. Always stir the mixture just before drinking it.
    • To make sure that you have drunk all of the medicine, rinse the glass very well with half a glass of water and drink it. The solid pieces contain the medicine – do not chew or crush them.

What do Guardium Tablets Heartburn and Acid Reflux Control Tablets contain

    • The active substance is esomeprazole. Each gastro-resistant tablet contains 20 mg esomeprazole (as esomeprazole magnesium).
    • The other ingredients are: Microcrystalline cellulose, Macrogol 8000, Lactose monohydrate, Talc (E 553b), Methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer, Copovidone K 28, Crospovidone, Sucrose, Povidone K 90, Maize starch, Magnesium oxide, light (E 530), Silica colloidal, anhydrous, Magnesium stearate, Diethyl phthalate, Polysorbate 80, Ethylcellulose, Sodium laurilsulfate, Hypromellose (E464), Titanium dioxide (E 171), Iron oxide red (E172), Shellac glaze, Iron oxide black (E172) and Propylene glycol.

    What is Hydrocortisone Cream?

Hydrocortisone creams, ointments and lotions contain a type of medicine known as a corticosteroid or 'steroid'. Corticosteroids are not the same as anabolic steroids.

Hydrocortisone creams are used on the skin to treat swelling, itching and irritation. They can help with skin problems such as:

    • Psoriasis
    • Eczema
    • Contact dermatitis
    • Prickly heat rash
    • Nappy rash
    • Insect bites and stings

Who is this cream suitable for

Most adults and children can use hydrocortisone skin creams.

However, don't use hydrocortisone skin products on children under ten years old unless their doctor recommends it.

Hydrocortisone skin cream isn't suitable for some people.

Tell your pharmacist or doctor before starting the medicine if you:

    • have had an allergic reaction to hydrocortisone or any other medicine in the past
    • have a skin infection (including eye infections)
    • are trying to get pregnant, are already pregnant, or you're breastfeeding

    Cream, ointment or lotion?

There are different types of hydrocortisone skin products. Creams are the most common, but there are also hydrocortisone ointments and lotions.

    As a general rule:

    • Hydrocortisone cream is better for skin which is moist and weepy with clear or yellow fluid.
    • Hydrocortisone ointment is thicker and greasier - it's better for dry or flaky areas of skin.
    • Hydrocortisone lotion is a liquid - it's useful for treating the scalp and large or hairy areas of skin.

    How to apply Hydrocortisone Cream

    • Spread the cream in a thin layer over the area of irritated skin.
    • Carefully smooth it into your skin in the direction the hair grows until it disappears.
    • Be careful not to get the cream into broken skin or cuts.
    • Wash your hands afterwards (unless it's your hands that you're treating).
    • Use the cream on all the irritated skin, not just the worst areas.

What are Colofac For IBS Relief Tablets

Colofac Tablets 135 mg contain Mebeverine hydrochloride. This belongs to a group of medicines called antispasmodics.

This medicine is used to treat symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and similar problems such as chronic irritable colon, spastic constipation, mucous colitis and spastic colitis.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a very common condition which causes spasms and pain in the gut or intestine.

The intestine is a long muscular tube which food passes down so it can be digested. You get pain if the intestine goes into spasm and squeezes too tightly. This medicine works by relieving the spasm, pain and other symptoms of IBS.

The main symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) include:

    • stomach pain and spasm
    • feeling bloated and having wind
    • having diarrhoea (with or without constipation)
    • small, hard, pellet-like or ribbon-like stools (faeces)

Your diet and lifestyle can also help treat IBS:

How you restrict your diet depends on the way IBS affects you. If you find that certain foods bring on the symptoms, then it makes sense not to eat them. A high-fibre diet may help, but ask your pharmacist for more information.

Some people find that learning to relax can help to lessen their symptoms of IBS. You may find it helpful to set aside a few moments each day to relax and gently unwind.

How to take Colofac For IBS Relief Tablets

    Adults and the elderly:

    • Take 1 tablet 3 times a day
    • The number of tablets you take can be lowered if your symptoms improve

    What is Silicol Gel

Silicolgel contains silicic acid, a compound of the mineral substance silicon and oxygen in a colloidal (highly dispersible) and hydrated form. Silicon is the second most abundant element on Earth, after oxygen. It is found in nature as silicon dioxide and in the hydrated or aqueous form as silicic acid.

Gastrointestinal disorders are usually caused by irritants and by harmful and toxic substances and pathogens. When the gastrointestinal tract is disturbed by such toxic substances and pathogens, it cannot function normally, which may lead to physical discomfort.

The advantage of Silicolgel exists in silicic acid's large and highly reactive surface. When taken internally, it forms a protective and soothing coating over the lining of the stomach and intestines.

    How to take Silicol Gel

Take Silicolgel at least 1 hour before or after the intake of medicines.

Take one tablespoonful (15 ml) of Silicolgel thrice daily, preferably before meals.

Silicolgel can be taken either undiluted or diluted with water. After acute symptoms ease, treatment with Silicolgel can continue for another few days.

If the symptoms have not reduced after three days, consult a medical doctor.

With diarrhoea, it is necessary to replace lost fluids.

    What does Silicol Gel contain

3.5 g Silicon Dioxide in 100 ml Silicic Acid gel.

    Preservatives: Sorbic Acid (E 200), Sodium Benzoate (E 211).
