What is Clotrimazole Cream 1% Fungal Treatment?

The active substance is clotrimazole. Clotrimazole belongs to a group of medicines called imidazoles and is an antifungal agent which fights the cause of fungal skin infections.

Clotrimazole is used to treat fungal skin infections such as ringworm, athlete’s foot, fungal nappy rash and fungal sweat rash. It is also used to relieve irritation of the vulva (external thrush) or the end of the penis, which may be associated with thrush.

When Clotrimazole is applied to the infected area of skin, it works by destroying the fungus or yeast which has caused the infection.

How to use Clotrimazole Cream 1% Fungal Treatment

    • Before use, pierce the tube seal by inverting the cap over the end of the tube and press.
    • If the feet are infected, they should be washed and dried thoroughly, especially between the toes, before applying the cream.
    • Clotrimazole should be applied thinly and evenly to the affected areas, two or three times daily and rubbed in gently.
    • A strip of cream (½ cm long) is enough to treat an area of about the size of the hand.
    • The duration of the treatment depends upon the type of infection. Use the cream for at least two weeks for candida (thrush) infections or at least one month for other infections.
    • If you have athlete’s foot, it may help to use an antifungal dusting powder as well. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend one.

The symptoms of skin infection such as itching or soreness should improve within a few days of treatment, although signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

What does Clotrimazole Cream 1% Fungal Treatment contain

The active substance is clotrimazole. Each gram of cream contains 10 mg of clotrimazole (i.e. 1% w/w).

What is Fluconazole Fungal Infection Capsule?

This medicine contains Fluconazole, which belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals. These act to treat infections caused by fungi.

The medicine can be used to treat thrush (vaginal candidiasis). The woman’s sexual partner may also use it to treat associated penile thrush (candidal balanitis).

Thrush is a common infection caused by a yeast (or fungus), which may live harmlessly in the vagina without you even noticing it.

However, in certain circumstances, it may develop into an infection in the vagina, and symptoms may spread to the surrounding area. The symptoms may include one or more of the following:

    • Itching of the vagina and surrounding area (the vulva)
    • Redness and swelling of the tissues of the vagina and vulva
    • Soreness of the vagina and vulva
    • White non-smelling discharge from the vagina

Thrush may be aggravated by sexual intercourse, but it is not a sexually transmitted disease. However, sometimes thrush can be passed to your partner through sexual intercourse.

If your partner has penile thrush, he may have one or more of the following symptoms:

    • Soreness and redness of the penis
    • Tightness of the foreskin
    • A white non-smelling penile discharge

What is the recommended dosage for Fluconazole?

    • Check the foil is not broken before use. If it is, do not take the capsule.
    • Adults aged 16 to 60 years: Take one capsule once only.
    • Swallow the capsule whole with water.
    • Do not give to children under 16 years, or take if you are an adult of 61 years or older unless your doctor tells you to.
    • Do not take more than the amount recommended above.
    • Talk to your doctor if symptoms do not go away within seven days.
    • If your symptoms worsen at any time, talk to your doctor.
    • If symptoms clear up but then return after seven days, you can take another capsule, unless you had an allergic reaction the first time.

    What is in this medicine

The capsule contains Fluconazole 150 mg which is the active ingredient.

    What is EMLA Cream 5%?

EMLA Cream contains two active substances called lidocaine and prilocaine. These belong to a group of medicines called local anaesthetics.

EMLA Cream works by numbing the surface of the skin for a short time. It is put on the skin before certain medical procedures. This helps to stop the pain on the skin, however, you may still have the feelings of pressure and touch.

    Adults, Adolescents and Children

It can be used to numb the skin before:

    • Having a needle put in (for example, if you are having an injection or a blood test).
    • Minor skin operations.

    Adults and Adolescents

    It can also be used:

    • Having an injection.
    • Medical procedures such as the removal of warts.

    Adults

It can also be used to numb the skin before:

    • Cleansing or removal of damaged skin of leg ulcers.

For other purposes than application to intact skin, the product should be used only upon recommendation of a doctor, nurse or pharmacist.

How to use EMLA Cream 5%

Always use EMLA Cream exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse has told you. Check with your doctor, pharmacist or nurse if you are not sure.

    Using EMLA Cream

    • Where to put the cream, how much to use and how long to leave it on will depend on what it is used for. Half a 5 g tube corresponds to about 2 g EMLA Cream. One gram of EMLA Cream pressed out of a tube is approximately 3.5 cm.
    • EMLA Cream should be used on the genitals only by a doctor or nurse.
    • When EMLA Cream is used on leg ulcers, a doctor or nurse should supervise its use.

What are Nexium Control For Heartburn And Acid Reflux 20mg Tablets?

Nexium Control contains the active substance esomeprazole. It belongs to a group of medicines called ‘proton pump inhibitors’. They work by reducing the amount of acid that your stomach produces.

This medicine is used in adults for the short term treatment of reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation).

Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet ("foodpipe") which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause you symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

Nexium Control is not meant to bring immediate relief. You may need to take the tablets for 2-3 days in a row before you feel better. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.

What are the symptoms of heartburn?

The normal symptoms of reflux are a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

Why do you get these symptoms?

Heartburn can be a result of eating too much, eating high fat food, eating too quickly and drinking lots of alcohol. You may also notice that when you lie down, your heartburn gets worse. If you are overweight or smoke you increase the probability of suffering from heartburn.

What can I do to help relieve my symptoms?

    • Eat healthier food and try to avoid spicy and fatty foods and large meals late before bedtime.
    • Avoid fizzy drinks, coffee, chocolate and alcohol.
    • Eat slowly and eat smaller portions.
    • Try to lose weight.
    • Stop smoking.

How to use Nexium Control For Heartburn And Acid Reflux 20mg Tablets

    • The recommended dose is one tablet a day.
    • Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don’t feel an improvement immediately.
    • You may need to take the tablets for 2 or 3 days in a row before your reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation) get better.
    • The treatment length is up to 14 days.
    • When your reflux symptoms have completely gone you should stop taking this medicine.
    • If your reflux symptoms get worse or do not improve after taking this medicine for 14 days in a row, you should consult a doctor

Taking Nexium Control For Heartburn And Acid Reflux 20mg Tablets

    • You can take your tablet at any time of the day either with food or on an empty stomach.
    • Swallow your tablet whole with half a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or open the tablet. This is because the tablet contains coated pellets, which stop the medicine from being broken down by the acid in your stomach. It is important not to damage the pellets.

What do Nexium Control Tablets contain?

The active substance is esomeprazole. Each gastro-resistant tablet contains 20 mg esomeprazole (as magnesium trihydrate).

    What is Selsun Dandruff Treatment?

Selsun Selenium sulphide destroys a particular type of fungus called dermatophyte. It also causes a decrease in the production of cells in the top layer of skin, as well as the amount of natural oil (sebum) produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin.

Seborrhoeic dermatitis is an inflammatory scaling skin condition, which can affect the scalp. The body's reaction causes inflammation to the presence of a particular type of fungus, and to products that break down oil.

Selenium sulphide kills the fungi responsible for causing this inflammation, as well as controls the itching and scaling associated with dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp.

    • Dandruff
    • Inflammation of the scalp due to excessive oil secretion (seborrhoeic dermatitis)

How to use Selsun Dandruff Treatment?

It is not recommended for children under five years.

Children aged 5-14 years, adults and the elderly - Apply liberally twice weekly for two weeks and then once weekly for the next two weeks. After that use only as often as necessary to control the condition.

What does Selsun Dandruff Treatment contain?

Each 100ml of shampoo contains 2.5 g of the active ingredient Selenium Sulphide (selenium disulphide Ph. Eur).
