What is Acne

Acne is a common skin condition that affects most people at some point. It causes spots, oily skin and sometimes skin that's hot or painful to touch.

Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil (sebum) and dead skin cells. This leads to the formation of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and sometimes more severe forms like nodules or cysts. It most often affects the face, forehead, chest, upper back, and shoulders.

Although acne cannot be cured, it can be controlled with treatment. If you develop mild acne, it's a good idea to speak to a pharmacist for advice.

What causes Acne

Acne is caused when tiny holes in the skin, known as hair follicles, become blocked. In acne, the glands begin to produce too much sebum. The excess sebum mixes with dead skin cells and both substances form a plug in the follicle.

Normally harmless bacteria that live on the skin can then contaminate and infect the plugged follicles, causing papules, pustules, nodules or cysts.

What is Dalacin T Lotion

Dalacin T contains the active substance clindamycin phosphate. It is an anti infective used on the skin for the treatment of acne in adults.

Dalacin T is an antibiotic lotion used on the skin to help treat acne. Dalacin T works by decreasing acne lesions and/or stopping the growth of skin bacteria that cause acne. Dalacin T is not addictive.

How to use Dalacin T Lotion

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Usually, you should use this medicine twice a day. Shake the bottle well before use and wash the affected area before applying the lotion. Apply a thin film of the lotion to the affected area by gently rubbing it into your skin. You may use a cotton pad for this, or you can use your fingers.

Wash and dry your hands before and after using the lotion. The bottle has a dispensing cap. Always replace the cap after use.

What does Dalacin T Lotion contain

The active substance is clindamycin phosphate. Each ml of Dalacin T Topical Lotion contains 10 mg of clindamycin.

The other ingredients are glycerol, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, stearic acid, tegin, cetostearyl alcohol, isostearyl alcohol, methylparaben and purified water. See section 2 ‘Dalacin T contains cetostearyl alcohol and methyl parahydroxybenzoate’.
