Using a new file, gently file down the infected areas of nail, including the nail surface. Protect any healthy nails while you are doing this so that you don't spread the infection.

HemorrhoidsIn stockMore InformationWhat is Anusol Plus HC Ointment?
Anusol Plus HC Ointment is a medicine which is used to reduce the symptoms of internal and external piles (haemorrhoids). It contains the following ingredients:
- Hydrocortisone acetate is a mild steroid which helps reduce inflammation.
- Zinc oxide and Bismuth salts are mildly astringent and antiseptic. They soothe and protect raw areas.
- Balsam Peru is mildly antiseptic and has a protective action on sore areas and may help healing.
- Benzyl benzoate has mild antiseptic properties.
This medicine helps relieve the swelling, itch and irritation of internal and external piles (haemorrhoids) and other related conditions, such as anal itching.
What are piles?
Piles (haemorrhoids) are swollen blood vessels which occur inside or outside the back passage (anus).
Some people have piles without experiencing any symptoms, but sufferers may notice the following:
- Bleeding: Although streaks of bright red blood on the toilet paper are not uncommon in people with piles, it may be a sign of a more serious condition and you should see your doctor to check this.
- Swelling: The swollen blood vessels may be felt as a lump or blockage in the anus.
- Pain, itching and irritation in the anal region.
At least 40% of people suffer from piles at some time in their lives. However, many people are too embarrassed to seek advice or treatment and, as a result, experience unnecessary discomfort.
Fortunately, there is much you can do to ease the situation and relieve the symptoms.
What causes piles?
Several factors can contribute to the development of piles:
- The most common cause is straining during a bowel movement, usually because of constipation.
- During pregnancy, the growing baby exerts increased pressure on the anal vessels, which can lead to piles.
- Heredity: you may be more likely to develop piles if your family has a history of suffering.
A Healthy Living Plan for Piles Sufferers
You can reduce the risk of piles by following a healthy diet and lifestyle that helps to keep your bowels working regularly and prevents constipation. This can also help to speed recovery from piles.
- Eat a high fibre diet including foods like brown rice, wholemeal bread, wholewheat pasta etc.
- Eat plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, and salads.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Don't eat too much salty, fatty, or sugary foods such as crisps, burgers, and cakes.
- Cut back on the amount of alcohol, tea, and coffee you drink.
- Exercise regularly.
A healthy diet and lifestyle will reduce the likelihood of constipation and encourage a regular bowel habit. Go to the toilet regularly and try to avoid straining. Leaning forward from the hips may help.
How to apply Anusol Plus HC Ointment
Anusol Plus HC Ointment is for topical use only, which means it is applied directly to the affected area.

Dermol 500 Lotion - 500ml
Skin CareIn stockMore InformationWhat is Dermol 500 Lotion
Dermol 500 Lotion is an antimicrobial and emollient (softening and moisturising) treatment for application to dry or problem skin.
It is for use in two ways:
- as a leave-on application
- as a soap-substitute
It helps treat and prevent dry and itchy (pruritic) skin conditions, especially eczema and dermatitis.
All age groups can use Dermol 500 Lotion, including babies.
There are two types of the active ingredient in this product:
Benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine dihydrochloride are antimicrobials. These help to:
- combat bacteria present on your skin that can make eczema worse
- prevent infection caused by scratching itchy skin.
Liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate are emollients that help to:
- soften, moisturise and protect your skin by trapping moisture in the skin and restoring the normal protective function of the skin
- prevent the skin-drying and irritant effects that can be caused by washing and bathing and by the soaps, foaming additives and fragrances used in ordinary skin cleansing products.
This product can be used in addition to any other emollients or treatments your doctor or pharmacist may have given or prescribed for you to treat your dry skin condition.
How to use Dermol 500 Lotion
Use it only on the skin. For maximum benefit, you should use this product on a regular basis and as often as required.
Before using the 500 ml bottle, turn the top of the pump dispenser anti-clockwise to unlock it.
After unlocking, you will need to press down the pump dispenser several times to prime the pump before any product is dispensed.
The same instructions apply for all age groups:
For use as a leave-on application
- Apply Dermol 500 Lotion to the affected areas.
- Gently smooth into the skin.
- If necessary, allow time for any excess to soak in. Do not rub the skin vigorously.
- Reapply as often as required.
- If you are applying another treatment to the same areas of skin as Dermol 500 Lotion, try to avoid mixing the two products. This can be achieved by applying the treatments alternately, leaving sufficient time to allow the previous application to soak in.
For use as a soap substitute
- Use Dermol 500 Lotion to wash with instead of your ordinary soap or shower gel. It will not foam or lather like ordinary cosmetic products.
- After washing, bathing or showering, pat the skin dry with a soft towel (avoid rubbing as this can make dry skin conditions worse).
What does Dermol 500 Lotion contain?
The active ingredients in this product are benzalkonium chloride (0.1% w/w), chlorhexidine dihydrochloride (0.1% w/w), liquid paraffin (2.5% w/w) and isopropyl myristate (2.5% w/w).
The other ingredients are cetostearyl alcohol, macrogol cetostearyl ether (cetomacrogol 1000), phenoxyethanol and purified water.

Keeping a record
Before you start using the medicine you should keep a record of how your nail looks:
- Shade the area affected by the infection to assess your progress.
- If you have 2 nails affected, just do this for your worst nail.
- Every 3 months, shade the area affected in the next diagram.
- Do this until the infected nail has completely grown out.
This will help you remember how your nail looked so you can see your progress.
How long to use Curanail
- You need to use the medicine once a week until the infection has cleared and healthy nails have grown back.
- This usually takes 6 months for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails.
- You will see a healthy nail growing as the infected nail grows out.
- Nails grow slowly so it may take 2 or 3 months before you start to see an improvement.
After every 3 months of treatment:
- If the infection has improved, continue the treatment.
- If the infection is the same or worse talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Safe use of Curanail
- If you get the medicine in your eyes or ears wash it out with water and talk to your doctor or pharmacist or go to the nearest hospital straight away.
- Do not let the medicine come into contact with your mouth or nostrils (or other mucous membranes).
- Do not inhale the medicine.
- Do not let anyone else use the files from your kit -this will stop the spread of infection.
- If you need to use chemicals such as paint thinners or white spirit when you have applied the medicine to your fingernails, wear rubber or other waterproof (impermeable) gloves. This will protect the medicine on your nails.
Step 1: Prepare the nail
Using a new file, gently file down the infected areas of the nail, including the nail surface. Protect any healthy nails while you are doing this so that you don't spread the infection.
CAUTION: Do not use the same nail file for infected nails and healthy nails, as this could spread the infection as well. To prevent the spread of infection take care that no one else uses the files from your kit.
Step 2: Clean the nail
Use one of the swabs provided to clean the nail surface. Do not throw the swab away as you will need it later to clean the applicator.
Step 3: Treat the nail
Dip one of the re-usable applicators into the bottle of nail lacquer. The lacquer must not be wiped off on the edge of the bottle before it is applied. Apply the nail lacquer evenly over the entire surface of the nail. Let the treated nail(s) dry for approximately 3 minutes.

Daktarin Intensiv (Ketoconazole) Cream - 15g
Foot CareIn stockMore InformationWhat is Daktarin Intensiv Cream?
Daktarin Intensiv Cream is a medicine which is used to treat skin infections which may appear on the feet (Athlete’s Foot) or in the groin area (Dhobie Itch/tinea cruris). The cream rapidly relieves the itching which these fungal infections cause. It also provides long lasting protection from Athlete’s Foot, as it will continue to work even after you have stopped using it.
The cream contains the active substance, ketoconazole, which works by destroying the fungi that cause the infection.
If you have Athlete’s Foot, the skin between your toes will be red and itchy. Your skin may flake and crack and often the infection causes an unpleasant ‘cheesy’ smell. It is encouraged by moist, warm conditions and can be recognised by redness, irritation and itchiness between the toes.
Tinea cruris or Dhobie Itch is a fungal infection that occurs in the groin area and causes intense itching and inflammation (redness and soreness). In men, the skin of the scrotum is often affected.
How do you catch Athlete’s Foot?
It’s extremely infectious so anyone can pick it up, especially people sharing communal changing rooms and showers.
Once the fungal spores have been transferred onto the feet, they thrive in the warm, moist areas between the toes. The skin soon becomes inflamed and itchy with flaking or cracking occurring.
The infected flakes of skin are then shed onto the floor or into the socks and shoes by walking or friction.
Someone else will be easily infected if they step on these flakes, or if they share towels or footwear with someone who has already got Athlete’s Foot.
What is more, even if you’ve already got rid of your Athlete’s Foot, it’s very easy to re-infect yourself. The spores can live on or in your shoes or socks and if you don’t change them regularly, or treat them with antifungal powders or spray powders, the Athlete’s Foot soon returns.
How to prevent re-infection
If you want to avoid the vicious circle of re-infection, here are a few helpful hints.
- Spray inside your shoes and socks with fungicidal powder before putting them on.
- Don’t wear the same pair of shoes every day. This helps reduce the build-up of sweat which provides the moisture on which the fungus thrives.
- Avoid synthetic footwear. Choose cotton socks and leather shoes which allow your feet to breathe.
- Avoid sharing towels or footwear.
- Avoid walking barefoot in changing rooms.
- Dry thoroughly between your toes and keep toenails short as this reduces the number of places fungi can grow.
How to use Daktarin Intensiv Cream
- Each tube of cream is sealed – unscrew the cap and use the cap to pierce the seal.
- For topical use only, which means it is applied directly to the affected area of skin.
How to apply Daktarin Intensiv Cream
- Wash the infected area and dry it well (especially between the toes). As many skin conditions are contagious, you should keep a towel and flannel for your own use and not share it so that you do not infect anyone else.
- Apply the cream thinly onto the infected area and surrounding skin.
- Wash your hands carefully after applying the cream to avoid spreading the infection to other parts of the body or to other people. Similarly, clothing which comes into contact with the infected areas, such as socks, should be washed and changed frequently.
For skin infections of the trunk, groin, feet and hands, apply Daktarin Intensiv Cream to the affected and immediate surrounding area once or twice a day.
For Athletes Foot (infections between the toes)
Adults: Rub the cream gently between the toes and surrounding area once or twice a day (morning and night) for 4 to 6 weeks. Treatment may be necessary for up to 6 weeks.
- Continue to apply the cream to the affected areas for a few days after signs of infection have cleared to prevent them coming back.
- If symptoms have not improved within 4 weeks talk to your doctor.
For Dhobie Itch (Jock Itch)
Adults: Rub the cream into the affected and surrounding area once or twice daily.
- Continue treatment for a few days after signs of infection have cleared. Treatment may be necessary for up to 4 weeks. You may feel relief from symptoms quickly but it is important that you continue to use the cream as described to prevent them from coming back.
- If symptoms have not improved within 4 weeks talk to your doctor.

Bazuka Sub-Zero Freeze Verruca & Wart Removal Treatment – 50ml
Foot CareIn stockMore InformationWhat is Bazuka Sub-Zero Freeze Verruca & Wart Removal Treatment
Bazuka Sub-Zero removes warts and verrucas. Bazuka Sub-Zero is a freezing wart and verruca removal device based on the cryotherapy method used by doctors.
Bazuka Sub-Zero starts working from the first application and works by freezing warts and verrucas to the core. Based on the cryotherapy method used by doctors, it's fast to use, and effective.
- A home use ‘freeze’ treatment for verrucas and warts, based on cryotherapy used by doctors and healthcare professionals.
- Freezes the verruca or wart to the core from the first treatment - for a fast to use, and effective treatment.
How does Bazuka Sub-Zero Freeze Verruca & Wart Removal Treatment work
Bazuka Sub-Zero is based on cryotherapy - a recognised 'freezing' method used by doctors and healthcare professionals. It can freeze the wart or verruca to the core in just one treatment and in most cases, after 10 days, the treated wart or verruca will fall off, revealing new skin that has formed beneath.
Bazuka Sub-Zero may be preferable for more stubborn warts and verrucas, and when a really rapid treatment is desirable. It's suitable for adults and the elderly, and for children down to the age of four. Because the sudden freezing process can be painful, Bazuka Sub-Zero is not recommended for children younger than four.
Unlike other freezing products, Bazuka Sub-Zero uses Verrukill technology, a patented double protection security system to help make sure it can be used safely. Thanks to experts at Bazuka, the freezing agent can only be discharged using the special safety cap, and users can see when the applicator is charged with the freezing agent, enabling them to localise the treatment accurately onto the wart or verruca. Some alternative freezing products do not contain the freezing agent very well and so are more prone to harmful side effects.
How to use Bazuka Sub-Zero Freeze Verruca & Wart Removal Treatment
- Assemble device
- Use safety cap to charge foam applicator with the freezing agent
- Gently apply freezer to wart or verruca - only for a matter of seconds
This treatment can be painful, it is not suitable for everybody. if used on children, it must be operated by an adult
Do not use:
- On children under 4
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding
- If you are diabetic
- Anywhere on or near your face, armpits, breasts, bottom or genital (sex) area
- On birthmarks, moles, warts with hair growing from them, or any other spots
- On skin areas that are sensitive, damaged, cut, grazed, diseased or itchy
- At the same time as any other wart or verruca treatment
What does Bazuka Sub-Zero Freeze Verruca & Wart Removal Treatment contain
A pressurised aerosol can containing the freezing agent which is a liquid mixture of Dimethyl ether, Propane and Isobutane; 12 disposable foam applicators (sufficient for 12 freeze applications); a special safety cap/ actuator; an instruction leaflet.
Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel with Emery Board, 6g
Foot CareIn stockMore InformationWhat is Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel?
Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel is a treatment for warts and verrucas.
Warts and verrucas are small excessive growths of skin caused by a type of virus. Warts often occur on the fingers or the back of the hands. You can recognise the common wart by the rough ‘cauliflower-like’ appearance of the surface. Verrucas occur only on the sole of the foot. They can be painful and often look like a small white ring of skin with black dots in the centre. The virus is very infectious. This means that warts and verrucas can grow and spread, mainly if left untreated. The virus can also be transferred to other parts of the body or from one person to another (see Section 6 for guidance on how this can be avoided).
Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel is suitable for use by adults, the elderly and children aged over 2 years. An adult should treat children under 12 years, and treatment of infants under 2 years is not recommended.
The active ingredient in this product is salicylic acid.
The active ingredient works by:
- softening the hard skin growth, making it easier to remove with a pumice stone or emery board;
- helping to kill the virus that causes warts and verrucas.
How to use Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel
Before you use this tube of gel for the first time, open it as follows:
- Find a suitable surface, in case of accidental spillage.
- Hold the tube upright, with the cap uppermost and the base resting on a suitable surface.
- Unscrew and remove the combined white and red nozzle/cap assembly from the tube.
- Remove the red collar and dispose of it safely.
- Keep the tube upright for 30 seconds.
- Then, without squeezing or over-gripping the tube, and with it still held upright and away from your face:
- replace the white and red nozzle/cap assembly onto the screw thread of the tube (take care to avoid ‘cross-threading’)
- tighten the nozzle/cap assembly firmly to pierce the top of the tube;
- briefly loosen the red cap (to release any slight pressure in the tube) and then retighten.
- Please note that once in place, a small gap will remain between the base of the nozzle/cap and the top of the tube.
To use the gel (adults, children and the elderly):
Follow these steps once every day, usually in the evening. Carry on using the gel in this way until the wart or verruca disappears:
- Soak the affected area in warm water for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Dry the area thoroughly, using your own towel if you have a wart or verruca (this will help stop the infection spreading to other people). This towel should be used for the affected area only.
- Taking care to avoid squeezing the tube, remove the protective red cap, leaving the white nozzle attached to the tube.
- Carefully apply a thin coating (one or two drops) of the gel to the top of the wart or verruca only:
- The next evening, carefully peel or pick off the white patch of dried gel from the wart or verruca:
- Once every week, before applying the fresh gel, gently rub the wart or verruca with the emery board provided or a pumice stone. Do not let anyone else use the emery board or pumice stone as the infection may spread to them.
- The length of treatment will vary depending on the size and resistance of the wart or verruca:
- At the end of treatment, if the white patch is difficult to remove, you can leave it because it will eventually fall off by itself.

- Before applying the cream, your feet should be washed and dried thoroughly, especially between the toes.
- The cream should be applied thinly and evenly to the affected areas once daily, preferably at night before going to bed, and rubbed in gently

Foot CareOut of stockMore InformationWhat is Daktarin Gold 2% Cream?
Daktarin Gold 2% Cream is a medicine which is used to treat skin infections which may appear on the feet (Athlete’s Foot), in the groin area (Dhobie itch/tinea cruris) or between skin folds (Sweat Rash infected with a yeast infection ‘thrush’).
The cream rapidly relieves the itching which these fungal infections cause. It also provides long lasting protection from Athlete’s Foot, as it will continue to work even after you have stopped using it. The cream contains the active substance, ketoconazole, which works by destroying the fungi and yeasts that cause the infection.
Candidal intertrigo or sweat rash which has been infected with a yeast infection (‘thrush’) is usually found under the breasts and where fleshy areas around the waist or under the armpits become damp with sweat between the deep folds of skin. The skin area becomes red and sore, and it often looks like moisture is coming from the surface.
