Product details

What is Acidex Advance Oral Suspension Aniseed

Acidex Advance Oral Suspension (called ‘Acidex Advance’ throughout this leaflet) belongs to a group of medicines called “reflux suppressants”. Reflux is when the acid stomach contents flow back up the gullet (oesophagus), and this can cause pain and discomfort, known as heartburn or acid indigestion.

This medicine contains the active ingredients sodium alginate and potassium hydrogen carbonate, which form a protective layer at the top of your stomach to stop reflux by keeping the stomach contents away from the food pipe lining to relieve heartburn symptoms and acid indigestion. It can, therefore, be taken to prevent and relieve the symptoms of acid reflux, including during pregnancy and relieve the symptoms of conditions such as hiatus hernia (protrusion of muscle through a muscle wall), reflux oesophagitis (inflamed food pipe) and symptoms of hoarseness and other voice disorders, sore throat and cough associated with reflux.

It can also be taken to control heartburn symptoms when taking or following medication withdrawal to reduce stomach acids such as Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) or H2 Antagonists.

This medicine is used in adults for the short term treatment of reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation).

Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet ("foodpipe") which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause you symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

What can I do to help relieve my symptoms?

    • The treatment length is up to 14 days.
    • When your reflux symptoms have completely gone you should stop taking this medicine.
    • If your reflux symptoms get worse or do not improve after taking this medicine for 14 days in a row, you should consult a doctor

    What is Peptac Antacid 500ml?

Peptac Aniseed Liquid contains 3 active ingredients that work together to relieve the symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux. This occurs when stomach acid flows into the food pipe, which can be caused by many different factors and the most common is just after eating. Reflux symptoms can include painful heartburn, indigestion or acid regurgitation.

The active ingredients include sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate and they work together by preventing the acid from flowing back into the food pipe, but they are not absorbed into the bloodstream. Their effects last for about 3-4 hours on top of the stomach contents and are then broken down in the digestive system.

    How to take Peptac Antacid

For children aged 6-12, give them one or two 5ml spoonfuls after dinner time, or at bedtime, up to four times every day. For children over 12 and adults, double the dose up to four times every day.

    What is Silicol Gel

Silicolgel contains silicic acid, a compound of the mineral substance silicon and oxygen in a colloidal (highly dispersible) and hydrated form. Silicon is the second most abundant element on Earth, after oxygen. It is found in nature as silicon dioxide and in the hydrated or aqueous form as silicic acid.

Gastrointestinal disorders are usually caused by irritants and by harmful and toxic substances and pathogens. When the gastrointestinal tract is disturbed by such toxic substances and pathogens, it cannot function normally, which may lead to physical discomfort.

The advantage of Silicolgel exists in silicic acid's large and highly reactive surface. When taken internally, it forms a protective and soothing coating over the lining of the stomach and intestines.

    How to take Silicol Gel

Take Silicolgel at least 1 hour before or after the intake of medicines.

Take one tablespoonful (15 ml) of Silicolgel thrice daily, preferably before meals.

Silicolgel can be taken either undiluted or diluted with water. After acute symptoms ease, treatment with Silicolgel can continue for another few days.

If the symptoms have not reduced after three days, consult a medical doctor.

With diarrhoea, it is necessary to replace lost fluids.

    What does Silicol Gel contain

3.5 g Silicon Dioxide in 100 ml Silicic Acid gel.

    Preservatives: Sorbic Acid (E 200), Sodium Benzoate (E 211).

    Taking Guardium Tablets

    • You can take your tablet at any time of the day either with food or on an empty stomach.
    • Swallow your tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablet. This is because the tablet contains coated pellets, which stop the medicine from being broken down by the acid in your stomach. It is important not to damage the pellets.

Alternative method of taking Guardium Tablets

    • Put the tablet in a glass of still (non-fizzy) water. Do not use any other liquids.
    • Stir until the tablet breaks up (the mixture will not be clear) then drink the mixture straight away or within 30 minutes. Always stir the mixture just before drinking it.
    • To make sure that you have drunk all of the medicine, rinse the glass very well with half a glass of water and drink it. The solid pieces contain the medicine – do not chew or crush them.
